Labiaplasty (or Labioplasty) is one of the most popular procedures that I perform here in Duxbury. Over the past few years women of all ages have become more concerned with the appearance of their genital area. The internet has provided a forum for women to discuss genital plastic surgery in the privacy of their homes.
What is labiaplasty?
Most patients seeking labiaplasty feel that they do not want hanging of the labia minora beyond the labia majora or outer lips. Others feel bulky in pants or a bathing suit to the point of not wanting to wear any revealing clothing. The final group of patients seeking such surgery are active athletes or triathletes who complain of rubbing with biking or running.
An increasingly popular trend in female aesthetics
Below I describe some of the reasons for the increase in interest in labiaplasty and related surgeries by today's women in a brief video.
Helping women feel more confident
I use the techniques of Dr. Gary Alter as seen on dr. 90210 to safely reduce the labia minora. A vertical wedge of labia minora tissue is removed resulting in a small nearly invisible scar. The recovery is about 4-5 days of bed rest followed by 2-3 weeks off from the gym. I have a very high patient satisfaction rate with this surgery.
